What Jonas first assumes is a simple arrest quickly spirals into a hunt for a vanishing perpetrator. The murders are a series of blood sacrifices to Samael, orchestrated by the Fallen Angel Agrat bat Mahlat. As the body count rises, Eli and Jonas discover they are dealing with a web of players: a mindless pawn and two siblings separated at birth with a dark role to play. Defying their celestial Watchers, the unlikely duo must confront Agrat before her vile plan transforms the world into a landscape of permanent slaughter.
